Across America ... and Back.

excitement and anticipation
leaving, without any sad feelings.
sitting still for hours and gazing at mountains that tower
unsurpassed beauty and magnificence
frigid waterfalls and shaggy bison
steamy, bubbly mud that smells like salty boiled eggs
sitting still for hours on snow covered roads
empty vast prairie and graceful antelope
making peanut butter sandwiches on your knees
dreary gray skies and electric wires
passed through the city, breathed sighs of relief
awed and inspired by the most famous falls of North America
the green dragon tavern and Italian pastries
orchard house, walden pond and the shot heard 'round the world
rain, rain, go away and come again some other day
wide sidewalks and a long reflecting pool
business suits, crowded subways and aching feet
museums that transport you to different lands and times
waiting for hours in airports
Oh, the joy of seeing friends from home!
conviction, intimate worship and wonderful fellowship
a man in a suit, a black car... a long drive
missed flights and succumbing to tears as you were all alone
countless rows of headstones around the unknown soldiers grave
drawing close and confiding in one another
people falling out of bed at night, landing... on you
welcoming hearts, joyful spirits and christian hospitality
horse drawn buggies at the local atm
long grey dresses, white caps, black aprons
A pretzel feast! whoopie pies and long lost friends
lush green fields and "geddess-burg"
hot water with honey, coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes
honest abe's log home, merciless heat and a tissue box
sitting still for hours, making more sandwiches on your knees
brown flat fields, grass, grass, grass
long wide canyons, high cliffs, scraggly trees
nine-hundred seventy-two miles to the city of roses
evergreens, maples, oaks... and mt. hood!
satisfaction and contentment
home sweet home

(has it almost been a year?)
